Taking over an existing app

Your previous developer or agency has moved on, and the app still has to ship. Proper Bits picks it up, makes it safe to change and gets releases going again.

How a takeover goes

  1. Access and a first build. Getting the app to build on a clean machine, with code signing, store accounts and backend access sorted out.
  2. A written assessment. What is fragile, what is out of date and what can wait.
  3. Stabilise. Fix crashes and blockers, update SDKs and dependencies and put builds and releases on a pipeline.
  4. Then features, inside your team or on a fixed scope.

Why me

  • Weeklie has been live since 2014: native iOS first, React Native on Android from 2018, then Flutter: Android from 2023 and iOS from 2026. It has 2.5 million iOS downloads.
  • My own apps have shipped more than 250 App Store versions since 2014, through every major iOS and Flutter change in that time.
  • I designed the build and release automation behind Haiilo’s branded-app line, and run self-hosted Mac CI for my own apps.
  • HeKu IT kept me on across three contracts from 2016 to 2025, developing and maintaining its own products and its clients'.
