Currency Converter: World Rates Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 September 2026

Currency Converter: World Rates (the “App”) is provided by Proper Bits Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the App processes, why it is processed, and the choices available to you.

Summary

Data stored on your device

The App stores cached exchange rates, favourite currencies, display preferences, premium entitlement, onboarding state, and a randomly generated identifier in local App storage. It may use device locale, time-zone, or carrier-country information on the device to suggest an initial currency. This information is used to provide conversions and remember your choices.

Local App data remains protected by the operating system's app sandbox and is removed when you reset the relevant data or uninstall the App, subject to device backups controlled by you or the platform provider.

Exchange-rate service

The App requests current exchange rates from our online service. Its hosting and security providers process technical connection data such as IP address, request time, requested resource, and device or network headers. The service does not require an App account and the request does not include your list of favourite currencies.

Analytics and diagnostics

We use the following processors to understand basic App usage and maintain reliability:

We use this data to improve the App, detect failures, prevent abuse, and understand whether features work as intended. Depending on your location, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the App, or consent where applicable law requires it.

Usage analytics is enabled by default. Where available, you can turn it off under Settings → Privacy choices → Usage analytics, and the App remembers your choice. This stops new usage events; events already queued or being uploaded may still arrive. It does not delete earlier data or turn off crash diagnostics or advertising processing.

Advertising

The free version uses Google Mobile Ads to display banner ads. Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, approximate location, and device information to deliver, measure, and protect advertising. The App requests the platform's tracking permission where required. If you deny permission, Google may still show contextual or otherwise limited ads. You can also remove ads by purchasing the premium version.

See Google's privacy policy and information about Google's advertising technologies. Your device settings provide additional controls for advertising identifiers and tracking permissions.

Purchases

In-app purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. The store provider processes your account and billing information and returns a receipt or purchase token and product identifier so the App can unlock the purchase. We do not receive your payment-card details. Store providers process this data under their own privacy policies.

Support requests

If you contact support from the App, we process the message, any email address or attachments you choose to provide, and diagnostic information included with the request. Security and communications providers process the data needed to transmit and store the request.

International processing and retention

Our processors may handle data in countries outside your own. They describe the transfer safeguards they use, including standard contractual clauses where applicable, in their privacy notices. Local App data remains until you reset it or uninstall the App. Processor data is retained according to our account settings and the provider's documented retention practices, and support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request or meet legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can reset local data in the App where that option is provided, uninstall the App, manage tracking and advertising permissions in device settings, and purchase premium to remove ads. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Contact us to exercise a right relating to data controlled by us. See below for how to request deletion.

Request data deletion

To request deletion of data associated with Currency Converter: World Rates, email app-support (at) properbits.com with the subject “World Rates data deletion”. You can also send the request through the App's Contact Us form, which includes the random app identifier needed to locate your records. If you no longer have the App, email us and we will help identify the relevant data.

Your request can cover usage and purchase-event records, crash and diagnostic records, and support messages and attachments associated with your installation. We verify the request before deleting the relevant data from our systems and requesting deletion from our processors.

Amplitude processes deletion requests within 30 days. Sentry's active event retention is 30 days; its backups expire 30 or 90 days after creation, depending on the data type. Deleted support mail may remain in Fastmail's restore storage for 7–14 days, with backup copies removed under its backup retention practices. We will explain any data that must be retained to meet a legal obligation and the applicable retention period.

Apple and Google manage their own store purchase records. Deletion does not cancel a purchase or remove local App data from your device. Turning off usage analytics prevents new usage events; uninstalling the App alone does not delete records already sent to our processors.

Children

The App is not directed to children below the minimum age at which they may consent to data processing in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from such children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal data should contact us.

Security and changes

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We may update this policy when the App, its processors, or legal requirements change. The current version and its update date will remain available at this URL.
