Water Reminder Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 February 2026
Water Reminder (the “App”) is provided by Proper Bits Ltd (“we”, “us”). We build the App so you can schedule
reminders to drink and log your hydration progress. This policy explains what personal data the App processes, what
we use it for, and the choices you have.
Summary
- Your hydration history, reminder preferences, measurement settings, and premium status stay on your device in
encrypted OS storage unless you back up, sync, or share them yourself.
- We generate a random user identifier so that anonymous analytics (Amplitude) and crash diagnostics (Sentry) can
help us keep the App reliable. These partners also receive device model, OS version, coarse location inferred from
locale, event names, and crash stack traces.
- No data is sent to Google Fit, Apple Health, Firebase, AdMob, Facebook, or any advertising network.
- You can delete local data at any time by using the in-app reset options or uninstalling the App. Contact us if
you want us to erase analytics or crash data tied to your identifier.
Personal data we store on your device
The App keeps all core information locally using the platform Keychain/SharedPreferences APIs. This includes:
- Hydration entries: date and time of each drink, volume, beverage type or custom template, and
calculated hydration amount.
- Profile & preferences: weight, gender selection (for intake target calculations), preferred
volume/weight units, target intake, quick-add templates, achievements progress, onboarding completion flag, and
whether you have an active premium unlock.
- Reminder schedules: notification hours, quiet hours, snooze preferences, and toggle states.
- Device-generated identifier: a UUID stored only on your device so we can tag crash and analytics
events without needing contact details or an account.
Because this data never leaves your device unless you deliberately export a backup through your OS or share a
screenshot, you control retention. Removing the App or using your system settings to clear its storage erases this
information.
Data sent to third parties
The App does not maintain its own cloud backend. Limited telemetry is shared with the following processors so we
can monitor stability, enable purchases, and respond to support requests:
- Amplitude Analytics (Privacy
Policy): receives the random user ID, session identifier, device model, OS version, locale/time zone, and
event names such as app launches, successful purchases, and water intakes. We use this to understand feature usage
and improve reminders. Amplitude does not receive your hydration history contents or contact information.
- Sentry (Privacy Policy): collects
the same random user ID plus crash stack traces, log messages, and device context (OS version, model). We use it
to investigate crashes and errors.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: when you buy Water Reminder Premium, Apple or Google
processes the payment. We receive only a purchase token/receipt and product identifier to unlock premium features;
we do not see your billing information.
- Support inbox: if you tap “Contact Support,” your mail app opens a draft addressed to our support
team with your OS version, locale, premium status flag, and app version inserted so we can troubleshoot. You may
edit those details before sending.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or social networks.
Permissions, notifications, and sensors
The App requests permission to send local notifications so it can remind you to drink. Granting notifications is
optional and can be changed anytime in the system settings. We do not request access to contacts, calendars, health
data, motion sensors, or location services.
Legal bases for processing
For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR:
- Performance of a contract to store your hydration history, reminders, and premium unlock so the
App works as expected.
- Legitimate interest to run diagnostics and analytics that keep the App stable and improve the
product. You may opt out by contacting us, and we will delete the identifiers associated with your telemetry.
- Consent for local notifications (managed through your device settings) and for sending optional
troubleshooting messages.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it. Amplitude and Sentry retain telemetry for up to 24 months
under our current account settings, after which it is automatically purged. If you need us to delete crash or
analytics data sooner, provide your random user ID (available in Settings > Support) so we can locate and erase
the records.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete your personal
data, and to object to our processing. Most local data can be edited directly in the App. For anything handled by
our processors, contact us and we will respond within one month.
Security
We rely on the security features of iOS and Android (device encryption, application sandboxing, and secure
notifications APIs). Telemetry sent to Amplitude and Sentry is transmitted over HTTPS. No passwords are collected,
and we encourage you to secure your device with a passcode or biometric lock.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly process data about them. If you believe a
child has provided data, uninstall the App to erase local information and contact us so we can delete any related
telemetry.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever our data practices change. We will also highlight significant changes inside the
App or release notes. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated
policy.
